After Action Reports
Kansas City I sent Jo to the north gate (SAW and EA (environmental armour), Stitch to the west gate (M1 Garand and M16 with EA) and the rest to the south gate. Farsight (sniper rifle and leather mk 2) stood inside the gate covering the main approach and placed some mines there (if the mutants overwhelmed the ghouls I was going to fall back and defend from inside with crossfire as they entered). Rebecca (sniper rifle and AK47 and leather mk 2) and Matt, my main, (sniper rifle, SAW, rocket launcher with EA) were on the walls and Trevor (SAW, sniper rifle and M2 with EA) went out the gate and took a position behind the sandbags just forward and to the east of the gate (for a clear field of fire with autoweapons). The attack to the north was a distraction with only one SAW on the enemy side along with a lot of rusty pipes. Jo charged out the gate SAW blazing. The attack on the west looked minor but a lot of mutants were out of sight at first. Stitch was on constant autofire into the crowd until suppression fire drove him back and the mutants advanced. Meanwhile at the south gate Becca and Farsight started picking apart the SAW wielding mutants with long range sniping as a mob of melee mutants closed. The attack was broken by heavy autoweapon fire and rockets into the massed attackers as they got close to the gate (this tactic I highly recommend). All the gun wielding mutants went down to sniper fire or Trevor on the M2 before they could do any significant damage (except to their own troops ahead of them). The attack broken, Matt and Becca ran around the catwalks to the west gate and saved Stitch and the west gate from being overrun with rockets and assorted gunfire from the gate tower. At the end Jo, having broken the north gate attack, ran
down to help finish the last attackers near the west gate. Osceolla This next part is tricky (as in prepare for many reloads at this point). I sent Trevor up the tower with a M2 and after a few tries was able to clear the top and remain alive. With two snipers on the tower it was time to move in. The team crawled in through the back gate and began picking off the mutants with help from the sniper team on the tower. The snipers can only get shots on the eastern half of the compound so after that was clear the snipers came down and the whole team crawled to the west side of the compound and finished off the gate guards and then the outside patrols (actually one patrol was already dead because of mines and sniper fire during my initial movements). After the surface was clear I descended to the basement and after some rousing room-to-room firefights I completed the mission. Bear in mind that after I got the "mission complete" window several bodies with loot vanished (I think they were picked up by the mop up squad that followed me in) and a three mutants that were still alive were gone too. Thus you should loot up everything you can carry before you go downstairs at the end (this does not refer to the tunnel the BOS advises you to use to get in to the compound and which I advise you to avoid).
